The Town Police Department is composed of 22 officers and 7 support professionals, dedicated to serving and protecting residents and visitors around the clock. Dispatched by an award-winning 911/Town Communications Center, the Department deploys a Patrol Force using a fleet of two and four wheel drive cruisers and special purpose vehicles. Detectives are assisted at crime scences by forensic evidence technicians who pursue investigations. The department K9 and its handler have earned a reputation for the ability to detect hidden narcotics. A School Resource Officer is deployed full-time to school buildings for D.A.R.E. and crime scene prevention education. The Emergency Response Team trains regularly to provide a proficient and tactical response to special law enforcement situations. These along with other crime prevention, juvenile and community policing programs, provide a variety of public safety experts to serve the needs of townspeople!

Fire Protection

Fire Potection is provided to the Town, 24 hours a day, by three dedicated, independent volunteer fire companies. The Best Luther Fire Company (web site: www.bestlutherfd.com) Chief Larry Burns (283-5641), with it's main headquarters on the West Sand Lake Road, generally serves the easterly portion of the Town. The Clinton Heights Fire (web site: www.clintonheightsfire.com) Company Chief Robert Johnson (main # 479-1201),generally services the westerly portion of the Town. This fire department has two companies, W.F. Bruen Hose Company (477-9982) and Community Hose Fire Company 462-2922. And, lastly, the East Greenbush Fire Company (web site: www.eastgreenbushfire.com) Chief George Forgea (main # 477-2319), with its headquarters on Phillips Road (477-4619), services the central portion of the Town. The North Station is located at 1056 Luther Road (477-4774). The Park Station is located at 68 Phillips Road (477-6503) which is where the headquarters are now, and the Park Station Pavilion which is located directly behind the Fire House (478-4108)

Ambulance Service & Rescue Squad

The W. F. Bruen Rescue Squad (477-8243), located at 1116 Red Mill Road, provides the Town ambulance service (ALS & BLS) and vehicle rescue. The squad is an independent and volunteer organization, serving the Town for 60 years. Its dedicated members who are totally independent and volunteer, provide service 24 hours a day. It also provides basic first aid and CPR training. Volunteers are always needed and welcome for both rescue & fire services. Call to find out what you can do to maintain these vital community services. The W.F. Bruen Rescue Squad Explorer Post #062 are a group of adolescents ages 13-17 who help the members and staff of the Rescue Squad. They meet on the second and last Sunday of every month. Come to a meeting, or stop by the Rescue Squad. You may come to a meeting to apply. New members are always welcome.

Today, East Greenbush has retained its small-town roots, while also serving as an important suburb of the City of Albany and home to many retail, corporate, and manufacturing businesses.
