The Town of East Greenbush Comprehensive Zoning Law, latest revision August 11, 1999 was adopted to promote and effectuate the orderly physical development in the town in accordance with the Town’s Comprehensive Master Plan. The law addresses the use of property, whether residential, commercial or industrial, including but not limited to: buildings, additions, parking areas, driveways, signs, sheds, garages, swimming pools, decks, gazebos, and major landscaping. The ordinance is administered daily and enforced by the Department of Building and Development. All interpretation questions, variances, and special use permits are handled by the Board of Appeals. The seven-member board generally meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall main court room (excluding holidays).

Copies of the town’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance are available for review and purchase for $35.00 at the Town Clerk’s office, located in the Town Hall.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month and start at 7:30 pm. The approved meeting dates for 2008 are as follows: 1/8, 1/22, 2/12, 2/26, 3/11, 3/25, 4/8, 4/22, 5/13, 5/27, 6/10, 6/24, 7/8, 7/22, 8/12, 8/26, 9/9, 9/23,
10/14, 10/28, 11/25, 12/9, 12/23.
