Town of E.G.B. Assessment Information System (AIS) and Grievance Filing InformationWe pride ourselves on providing an open-door policy and friendly service for each and every individual. The Town and the City Assessors are committed to valuing all properties accurately and equitably. Information contained in the AIS information provided to this website is updated semi-annually or with the release of various assessment rolls, tax rate information and maps, which mandates its being offline for construction at certain times. Please remember, Rensselaer County is made up of 14 Towns and 2 Cities. The only municipalities that are on the AIS are East Greenbush, Schodack, Sand Lake, City of Rensselaer and the City of Troy. While the AIS system must be taken offline at times for scheduled data maintenence , we still offer a superior tool than the majority of the County. Due to the Assessors' calendar, that is mandated by State Law, it is the best timeframe available to your municipality. So, again this year we thank for your understanding and patience. Process for Filing a Grievance on Your AssessmentThe Tentative Roll will be open on May 1 and will close on May 26, 2009, at 3PM. You may view the 2009 Tentative Assessment Roll every day Monday through Friday from 9AM until 3PM. In addition, the Rolls will be open on May 13, 2009 from 4PM until 8PM and May 16th from 9AM until 1PM. Your Grievance should be filed with the Department of Assessment by May 19th and you must include all supporting documentation for you requested reduction. Grievances will be accepted up to the 26th of May - before 3PM. State Law, has a provision that the Assessor may request another hearing date if the grievance application is filed after 4 days before the Hearing Date. Once you file the grievance with the assessor, an appointment will be made for you. This year, appointments will be made during the hours of 9:30AM until 8PM. Again this year, and due to the expected amount of grievances, we will not be able to give you a choice on the appointment times. Remember, last year, if you filed for a Small Claims Assessment Hearing and a decision was rendered whether a stipulated agreement or not, the assessment stands for 2009. In other words the assessment is frozen for 1 year and the Board of Review cannot change that assessment.
