Notice of Public Hearing 3/13/2019

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to a resolution adopted by the Town Board of the Town of East Greenbush, the Town Board shall hold a public hearing on March 13, 2019 at 5:45 p.m., in the East Greenbush Town Hall, 225 Columbia Turnpike in the Town of East Greenbush, to receive comments from the public on a proposed local law as follows:

A local law amending Chapter 33 of the Code of the Town of East Greenbush, updating said regulations to conform to current requirements and terminology.

Chapter 33 of the East Greenbush Town Code sets forth sewer regulations for the Town of East Greenbush. The proposed local law would make a series of technical amendments, modernizing the existing regulations set forth in Article 33. For instance, building sewer specifications currently require cast-iron soil pipe, and reference specifications from 1969. That section is amended to specify the diameter of lateral pipes, require that joints be tight and waterproof, and be built on a suitable bedding material. § 33-19 presently sets forth excavation requirements by referencing standards established in 1964 and 1969. The amendment provides that the installation shall be performed in accordance with the local building code, and that no backfill shall be placed until the work has been inspected and approved by the DPW Commissioner. §33-31, relating to specific design standards, is extensively revised, to reference New York State Department of Environmental Conservation design standards, and to add references to modern standards for pipes and pipe fittings. A number of such other technical amendments are also included in this local law.

A copy of the proposed local law may be reviewed at the Clerk’s Office in the East Greenbush Town Hall at 225 Columbia Turnpike, during the Town Clerk’s regular business hours. A copy of the local law is also available for inspection on the website maintained by the Town of East Greenbush.
