Citizens Fiscal Advisory Committee PDF Print E-mail

The voluntary Citizens Fiscal Advisory Committee (CFAC) was created by the unanimous adoption of 185-2010 Resolution to Abolish the Town Finance Committee and to Create a Citizens Fiscal Advisory Committee at the December 8, 2010 Town Board Meeting.

The CFAC consists of five (5) At-Large Members, with each Town Board Member appointing one (1) At-Large Member.  CFAC members serve at the pleasure of the appointing Town Board Member.  The Town Comptroller also serves on the CFAC as a non-voting Member.  The Town Comptroller is James Breig.

The Town Board members appointed the following CFAC members at the January 18, 2012 Town Board Meeting:

Supervisor Langley:                            Ed Gilbert
Councilperson Malone:                      Pete Stenson
Councilperson Mangold:                    Jim Devine
Councilperson Matters:                      Maura Ryan
Councilperson O’Brien:                      Richard Hendricks
Resolution 185-2010 empowers the CFAC

to perform such duties and responsibilities as, including but not limited to, assisting and advising the Town Board in managing the finances of the Town; researching and developing cost containment and revenue enhancement initiatives for recommendation to the Town Board for consideration; and undertaking such related activities as may be subsequently assigned to it by the Town Board or the Town Supervisor;

The CFAC is required to "meet at least once a month".  Meetings are usually scheduled for the second Monday of each month and are announced on the Town's web site.  These meetings are open to the public.

It is critical to note that the CFAC is an advisory committee.  The Town Board is thus free to accept or reject CFAC suggestions and recommendations in part or in toto
