It is the Town’s policy to hire the best available person whenever a vacancy occurs. Employment and promotional opportunities will be posted and qualified individuals interviewed to fill vacancies as they occur.
Unless otherwise specified in Town Law, the Town Board has the authority to hire individuals to fill vacancies as they occur.
The Town Board adheres to all federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations throughout the employee selection process. These include, but are not limited to, Town Law, the Civil Service System, Equal Employments Opportunity, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and union contract provisions.
The Town of East Greenbush has adopted a residency requirement which states that Town employees must have their principal place of residence within the Town of East Greenbush, or sign a written agreement that they will move into the Town within three (3) months of their date of hire. Extensions may be granted by the Town Board on a case by case basis. Preference will be given to Town residents.
