From the Desk of Jack Conway - East Greenbush Town Supervisor

Supervisor’s Report – November 21, 2018

On behalf of myself and all of the people who work in Town Hall I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!I have so many blessings in my life that I probably can’t be thankful enough for all of them in just one day.I’m thankful to the residents of East Greenbush who gave me the chance to serve in this office and I’m thankful every day for the people who work for the Town and do such a great job.

We’ll be holding a public hearing next Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall to receive comments on the consolidation of the General and Hampton Manor water districts. The consolidation will include some changes in the way tax bills and use rates are calculated. We will send all of the details in a letter to residents following the public hearing so that everyone has the right information.

We got great news from the NYS BridgeNY program as we were awarded $1,015,00 to replace two culverts. Two spans will be replaced, one that carries Mannix Road over Mill Creek and one that carries Morner Road over Mill Creek. The grants provide 100% financing and do not require a local match.

I offer my condolences to the family and friends of Pete Stenson, a resident and former Town employee who passed away suddenly.Pete had been a member of the Town’s Finance Committee and Planning Board, and served as Town Comptroller.Pete was a gentleman to the end and he will be sorely missed.

My condolences also to the people of the City of Rensselaer on the loss of Mayor Dan Dwyer this week.Dan was a dynamic figure who always had the best interests of the City at heart. He fought for a casino and I fought against one but we had a great working relationship and he was a source of good advice and counsel for me.I’ll miss him but no one can dispute that he did a fantastic job as Mayor of the City of Rensselaer.Rest in peace Mr. Mayor.
