Supervisor’s Report – January 5, 2018
Happy New Year!!!! 2018 is going to be a great year in the Town of East Greenbush. Welcome to new Town Board members Hollie Kennedy, Rick Matters and Guy Warner!!! Guy Warner was appointed at the January 2, 2018 Organizational Meeting to take the place of Tom Grant who has moved on to the Rensselaer County Legislature. His appointment is for the calendar year 2018. In November, a special election will be held and the winner will serve the last year of Tom Grant’s term in 2019.
Guy Warner was unanimously appointed by the other four Board members. He has a degree in Finance from Siena College and 32 years of experience working for the State of New York. He was the Director of Vital Statistics and the New York State Registrar, and spent the last two years serving on the Town’s Board of Ethics. I look forward to working with the new Board, which also includes Tina Tierney, who has been appointed Deputy Supervisor in addition to her tasks as a member of the Town Board.
Winter arrived with a vengeance but Public Works Commissioner Scott Gallery and his staff were prepared and have done an excellent job keeping our roads safe. Our new Nixle Alert Notification system is up and running. If residents want to sign up to receive notifications of snow emergencies, water main breaks, etc, or safety alerts from the Police Department and notifications of Town events, they can sign up on the Town website, www.eastgreenbush.org, or stop by the Town Clerk’s office.
On January 16, 2018 the Town Board will host a Public Meeting in the Auditorium at Genet Elementary School from 7-9 p.m. on the future of the Hampton Manor Water Treatment and Distribution System. We have the results of the engineering study of the system and these results will be presented, along with options for improving the quality of water in the Manor. Residents will have a chance to ask questions and express their concerns.
