DMV Satellite Office Update

Please see the lateset update on Rensselaer County's Department of Motor Vehicles via the Rensselaer County Facebook Page:

Changes to County DMV Service: Starting today, Monday, July 6, services at the Department of Motor Vehicles office operated by Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola will be open only to Rensselaer County residents. Residents from other counties will need to handle DMV transactions in their home counties.
The change follows a recommendation by the state DMV Commissioner to have transactions handled in their home county, according to Merola. Only Rensselaer County residents will have transactions handled at the Troy DMV until further notice.
For Rensselaer County residents, services will be expanded. The Troy DMV will be handling licenses, permits, non-driver IDs and vehicle registrations in person. Vehicle registrations had been handled via a drop-box.
The Troy DMV will also operate under new hours for the time-being, with hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting on Monday.
DMV offices in the county will remain closed until further notice, to ensure safety.
To gain entry to the Troy DMV, county residents are asked to enter through the south entrance on the first floor (Seventh Street side). A temperature check and other questions pertinent to health and safety will be asked before entry is permitted.
