Notice of Public Hearing-12/8/21-Sewer Rents & Regulations
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 20 of the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York that a public hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of East Greenbush on December 8, 2021 at 6:20 p.m. at East Greenbush Town Hall, located at 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, New York 12144, for the purpose of considering the adoption of Local Law No. 7 of 2021. If adopted, Local Law No. 7 of 2021 would repeal Chapter 34 of the Code of East Greenbush and Local Law No. 5 of 2021 of the Town of East Greenbush in its entirety and replace them with a new Chapter 34 to apply to the East Greenbush Consolidated General Sewer District. The local law, among other provisions, would establish a uniform formula for operation and maintenance charges within the consolidated sewer district, setting specific charges for use based upon cubic footage of water use or gallons metered, and specific minimum charges. In addition, the local law establishes a formula for the capital charges for the general district. That charge is based on a determination of the number of Equivalent Dwelling Units (EDU’s) for each parcel of property. In turn the number of EDU’s for each parcel will be set forth in a Schedule of Assessment Units for each property type, which will be established each year by the Town Board.
