Notice of Public Hearing - 25 MPH Speed Limit - Town Roads
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that pursuant to the direction of the East Greenbush Town Board, the Town Board shall hold a public hearing on February 15, 2023, at 6:00 P.M., at the East Greenbush Town Hall located at 225 Columbia Turnpike in the Town of East Greenbush, to receive comments from the public about a proposed local law as follows:
A Local Law establishing a speed limit of 25 miles per hour on certain roads, and 30 miles per hour on other roads.
Generally, the speed limit for Town roads in the Town has been set at 30 miles per hour. State legislation enacted in 2022 authorizes a town to reduce speed limits on town roads to 25 miles per hour. Pursuant to that legislation, the Town has received a report from a licensed engineer relating to the reduction of the speed limit to 25 miles per hour on town roads, basically stating that there is adequate engineering justification for this reduction in speed.
A copy of the proposed local law, which sets forth in alphabetical order the streets on which the local law proposes to reduce the speed limit to 25 miles per hour, and set the speed limit at 30 miles per hour on other streets, may be inspected at the Office of the Town Clerk during regular business hours.
