Notice of Public Hearing- Proposed Local Law 02-2022
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that pursuant to the direction of the East Greenbush Town Board, the Town Board shall hold a public hearing on May 11, 2022, at 6:00 P.M., at the East Greenbush Town Hall located at 225 Columbia Turnpike in the Town of East Greenbush, to receive comments from the public about a proposed local law as follows:
A local law prohibiting smoking, vaping and the use of smokeless tobacco in all Town facilities and on all Town properties.
The proposed local law would prohibit smoking, vaping and the use of smokeless tobacco in outdoor areas and in facilities owned and/or operated by the Town of East Greenbush. It specifically references the East Greenbush Town Hall, the garage and Department of Public Works, the Waste Water Treatment Plant, and all public parks owned and operated by the Town. In addition, it prohibits these activities in all pump stations operated by the Town. The proposed local law prohibits smoking and vaping all devices and products which contain tobacco, cannabis, or any other matter or substance. A violation of the proposed local law could result in a fine OF up to $250.00 for a first offense, and up to $500.00 for a second offense.
A copy of the local law may be inspected at the Office of the Town Clerk during regular business hours. A copy of the proposed local law is also available on the Town’s website at: https://www.eastgreenbush.org/
Written comments may be submitted to the Town Board by email to epangburn@eastgreenbush.org or by mail to the Town Board, Town of East Greenbush, 225 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, New York 12144 at any time prior to the hearing.
