Old Troy Road Bridge Closed

PUBLIC NOTICE
THE OLD TROY ROAD BRIDGE
July 14, 2022 *UPDATE*
Old Troy Road Bridge Closed to All Vehicle Traffic until Further Notice.

Following a recent inspection by the New York Station Department of Transportation, the Town of East Greenbush has been notified that the Old Troy Road Bridge has deteriorated to a point where a “Red Flag” has been issued. A Red Flag indicates that the bridge has significant deterioration to the primary structural components and that action is required that includes repairing/replacing the bridge or closing it to traffic.  Currently the bridge is posted for 18 Ton Weight Limit and carries a single lane of traffic.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Town has decided to close the bridge to all vehicle traffic. At this time, Old Troy Road Bridge is closed to all vehicle traffic until further notice. Temporary signage has been placed on the bridge until the proper signage and barriers have been received and placed.  The barriers are expected to be placed on Monday, July 18, 2022.

The Town, under the Red Flag, has hired an engineering firm to conduct a full evaluation of the bridge to determine the structural capacity and to provide a recommended course of action for the future of the bridge.

At this time, the bridge is still safe for Pedestrian traffic.
