From the Supervisor - March 12, 2020

Dear East Greenbush Residents,

The Town of East Greenbush has been in close contact with Rensselaer County as we monitor the progression of COVID-19.  At this time, there are no confirmed cases within East Greenbush or Rensselaer County.  We will continue to work with Rensselaer County, NYS DOH, EGCSD, and the business community to keep everyone informed of developments.

As a precaution and as a preventative measure, the Town is taking the following precautions:

East Greenbush Town Court is cancelled for tonight, March 12, 2020.  We will provide updates regarding upcoming Court dates as they get closer. The Senior programs have been cancelled for the next week. The Easter Egg Hunt, scheduled for April 4, 2020 has been cancelled. The Town Board Meetings scheduled for Wednesday, March 18th and Monday, March 23rd (updated with correct date) will proceed.  However, we are encuraging residents to watch the meetings via the Live stream on Facebook and Town Hall Streams.

Please rest assured that the Town is fully equipped and trained to respond to COVID-19.  We are striving to ensure a safe environment for residents and visitors of Town facilities.  We have placed hand sanitizer on counters throughout Town Hall and we are increasing the frequency that we are cleaning and disinfecting the building.  As of today, March 12th, all Town Departments are functioning as normal.  The EMS and Police Department are providing emergency and other services under the guidelines issued by State and Federal authorities.  If there are any changes to regular operations we will provide an update via the Nixle alert system and post to the Town’s Website and Facebook page.

Please remember that exposure to COVID-19 results from person-to-person contact, and to help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in our community, you should follow the following guidelines:

  •  Wash your hand frequently with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.  In the event that soap and water are unavailable, please use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  • Avoid touching your face, including eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touch object and surfaces using regular household spray or wipes.

For additional information regarding COVID-19 please read the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Updates on the Coronavirus.

We will keep you informed to the maximum extent possible.

Thank you and please stay calm.

Sincerely,

Jack Conway
