It has come to our attention once again that the Town Park is being frequented with dogs not attached to their owners.
This has not only made some park patrons and children wary and afraid, but also caused Town Staff members to have to corral dogs to the dog park to wait for their owners to find them; and further there have been incidents where two dogs did not particularly care for one another and the owner's were not able to control situation without a leash. A dog should be controlled by it's owner on a leash at all times.
There should be NO training classes conducted at the Town Park. Please see below section of the rules and regulations.
Anyone conducting training classes on Town Park grounds will be asked to leave.
The trails are part of the park. Dogs need to be leashed on the trails.
The Town Park along with anywhere else in Town is beholden to the Town of East Greenbush Leash Law. All dogs must be on a leash in the park. The only time they are allowed to run freely is in the fenced-in dog park with a permit issued by the East Greenbush Town Clerk.
As much as we love that the dogs enjoy the park. The Town is responsible for insuring the safety off all of it's park patrons, both human and dog, by enforcing the rules that keep everyone safe and comfortable. The following section was taken from the Parks Rules and Regulations Policy regarding animals. Please review.
