2018 Paving Update - 9/11/2018

As of this afternoon’s telephone conference with the paving contractor, the updated paving schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, September 12th, Michael Road will be paved (originally scheduled for Tuesday, September 11th). Please expect a slight delay in travel.
  • Thursday, September 13th, Robert Lane, Meaghan Lane, and the marked portion of Rose Lane will be paved(Originally scheduled for Friday, September 14th). Please expect a slight delay in travel.
  • Friday, September 14th, Michael Road will be chip sealed (Originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th). Signs will be posted to slow traffic to 20 MPH for approximately a week due to loose stone chips. Michael Road will be swept the following week and traffic speed will return to normal. Your cooperation will ensure a long lasting project with improved winter traction over conventional paving.
  • Monday, September 17th, Dailey Place and Lakeshore Drive (between the beach house and Hampton Avenue on the east side of the Lake) will be paved (Originally scheduled for Thursday, September 13th.) The Department of Public Works needed additional time to prepare and sweep the roadway to be paved). Please expect delays, and use alternate routes where possible.

I apologize for all of the changes in scheduling. Paving contractors are extremely busy due to a record year and rain delays during the months of July and August. By NYS Law, the Town has to use a bidding process to award the work; changing contractors would result in a longer delay. Please remember, this tentative schedule is also subject to change due to weather and production schedules.

Scott F. Gallerie

Commissioner of Public Works.
